Manager: Donor Relations
Under the direction of the Director: Development, the Manager: Donor Relations functions primarily as a Major Gifts Officer and is responsible for achieving the campaign goals set by the OHS.
In accordance with OHS objectives, philosophies and policies and procedures, the Manager:
Donor Relations is responsible for the following:
1. Professional Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain relationships with OHS major donors, sponsors, foundations and prospects
• Develop policies and procedures
• Coordinate the development of and implement the OHS major gifts and sponsorship plans
• Develop written and other materials to support the campaign
• Manage and coordinate campaign resources
• Supervise and coordinate campaign staff and contractors
• Prepare and deliver written and verbal presentations
• Be aware of and make use of community resources
• Provide advice and assistance to the Director: Development, Executive Director, OHS board and committees
• Plan and participate in OHS events that generate and recognize major donors and sponsors
2. Administrative Responsibilities
• Represent the OHS in a professional manner
• Be thoroughly familiar with pertinent legislation, regulations, guidelines, and OHS policies
• Participate in supervision, evaluation and training sessions
• Prepare accurate expense accounts and other forms
• Produce written reports and records
• Develop and maintain records
• Network with other professionals
• Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required
• Provide training and orientation to new staff and volunteers as required
• Supervise and support campaign staff
• Train and supervise student, volunteer and work placements
• Be familiar and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
• May be required to assume the responsibilities of Supervisor
3. Program Development
• Participate in appropriate OHS committees
• Evaluate program objectives
• Participate in the identification and achievement of OHS objectives
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of social, environmental issues relating to animal health and welfare
• Participate in public relations and promotional activities
Education and Experience:
• A degree or diploma or commensurate experience
• 2 to 4 years of demonstrated excellent performance in development, stakeholder relations or sales
• Proven project and other management experience
• CFRE an asset
Languages:
• Excellent verbal and written skills in English are required
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
Essential duties and working conditions:
• Will be required to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Employment is conditional upon maintaining a valid driver's license and access to an automobile
• Employment is conditional upon maintaining confidentiality of OHS information
• Employment is conditional upon the ability to work around all species of animals safely

Attendant: Animal Care
Overall Purpose: Under the direction of the Supervisor: Kennel, the Attendant: Animal Care is responsible for providing care for animals and maintaining animal holding areas and shelter facility.
In accordance with OHS' objectives, philosophies and policies and procedures, the Attendant: Animal Care is responsible for the following:
Professional Responsibilities
- Clean shelter facility and animal holding areas
- Feed and water animals
- Monitor animal health and husbandry
- Support the activities of volunteers, students and work placements while on shift
Administrative Responsibilities
- Represent the OHS in a professional manner
- Be thoroughly familiar with regulations, guidelines, and OHS policies
- Participate in supervision, evaluation and training sessions
- Maintain OHS facility and equipment
- Produce written reports and records
- Maintain computerized files
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required
- Support and supervise volunteers
- Provide training and orientation to new staff and volunteers as required
- Be familiar and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
- May be required to assist in the hiring of staff
- May be required to train and supervise student, volunteer and work placements
- May be required to assume the responsibilities of Supervisor
Program Development
- Participate in appropriate OHS committees
- Contribute to ongoing evaluation of program objectives
- Participate in the identification and achievement of OHS objectives
Education and Experience:
- 1 to 2 years training, education or experience in animal care is required
Languages:
- Good verbal and written skills in English are required
Essential duties and working conditions:
- Employment is conditional upon the ability to perform a variety of physically demanding tasks safely, including lifting/transferring large animals
- Employee will be required to work evening, holiday and weekend shifts
- Employee will be required to wear a uniform designated by the employer

- Employment is conditional upon the ability to work around all species of animals safely

Veterinary Technician - Shelter
Overall Purpose: Under the direction of the Supervisor: Kennel, the Veterinary Technician -
Shelter is responsible for the health and well-being of OHS and other animals.
In accordance with OHS's objectives, phi losophies and policies and procedures, the Veterinary
Technician - Shelter is responsible for the following:
Professional Responsibilities
- Ensure the emotional and physical health of OHS animals
- Provide medical and general animal assessment services
- Monitor animal health and well-being
- Administer prescribed treatments and other medical interventions
- Provide information and support to OHS customers and other OHS staff
- Assist veterinarians for rounds and as required
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Represent the OHS in a professional manner
- Be thoroughly familiar with pertinent legislation, regulations, guidelines, OHS policies and good animal care practices
- Track and ensure closure on all OHS animal files
- Participate in supervision, evaluation and tra ining sessions
- Maintain OHS facilities and equipment
- Prepare accurate expense accounts and other forms
- Produce written reports and records
- Maintain computerized files
- Network with other service providers and professionals
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required
- Provide training and orientation to new staff as required
- Support volunteers
- Train and supervise student and work placements
- Be familiar and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
- May be required to assist in the hiring of staff
- May be required to assume the responsibilities of Supervisor
Program Development
- Participate in appropriate OHS committees
- Contribute to ongoing evaluation of program objectives
- Participate in the identification and achievement of OHS objectives
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of social, envi ronmental and cultural issues relating to animal health and welfare
- May be required to participate in public relations and promotional activities
Education and Experience:
- A Veterinary Technician diploma from a recognized college
- 2 to 5 years clinical experience
- Supervisory and/or training experience
- Related work experience
Languages:
- Excellent verbal and written skil ls in English are required
- Bilingualism (English/French) is preferred
Essential duties and working conditions:
- Employees will be required to work evening, holiday and weekend shifts
