Wellness Clinics
Wellness Clinics for Ottawa's Pets
The OHS offers low-cost wellness (preventive care) appointments for dogs and cats whose families may not have access to veterinary services. Preventive care helps protect your pet’s health and helps to prevent disease.
Our service includes:
- A wellness exam with a veterinarian (mandatory)
- Vaccination (core vaccines and rabies)
- Deworming
- A microchip
- Ear cleaning (as needed)
- Flea and/or tick treatment (as needed)
Note: we are not able to accommodate pets that are experiencing illness or injury at this time. We cannot provide follow-up appointments or booster vaccines. We recommend seeking care at a full-service veterinary clinic for these purposes.
Wellness clinics are held at the Ottawa Humane Society (245 West Hunt Club Rd) and in the community. Appointments are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Eligible clients may request an appointment for a maximum of two pets per household.
Qualifying for our Services:
To qualify for an OHS wellness clinic, clients must live within the City of Ottawa boundaries and meet one of the following requirements:
- Enrolment in ODSP or Ontario Works
- Enrolment in the Resettlement Assistance Program
- Receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement (for seniors)
- Annual Income below $35,000 (approximately $17.5 per hour; Notice of Assessment required)
- Letter or referral from a social worker, social service agency, or qualified City of Ottawa employee
Cats and dogs must be between two months (8 weeks) and 12 years of age, and be in good general health.
Cost of our services:
The cost, including all services listed above, is $40 per pet. If additional medication is required for a minor issue, an additional $10 fee will apply.
