Ever Wonder What Goes on Behind-the-Scenes at the OHS?

Book a tour and come see for yourself! OHS tour groups will gain a detailed understanding of how our shelter works through a guided tour led by an OHS attendant, and can look forward to hearing more about:

  • How our Adoptions team finds the right matches for families.
  • The steps our Lost & Found staff take to reunite lost pets.
  • How our Intervention Services Coordinators assess animals coming into our shelter.
  • The work our Animal Care Attendants invest into the animals in our care.
  • How our Volunteer team supports OHS operations.
  • The programming offered to the community by our Outreach department.
  • Our clinic operations and the work our Veterinary team does to support the health needs of shelter animals.

Our tours are adapted to fit the needs of every group, with interactive activities for both adults and kids alike.

Every tour is unique as we work around shelter operations, and so we cannot guarantee a full viewing of every area depending on group size and the needs of our shelter animals.

Length of Tour: up to 1 hour 30 minutes

Cost: $75

Location: The Ottawa Humane Society (245 West Hunt Club)

Capacity: Maximum of 15 participants per booking. This includes both children and adult participants. Due to capacity restrictions at the OHS, no exceptions can be made. For groups larger than 15 participants, please book separate tours.

Animal Interactions: OHS tours do not have a scheduled animal interaction session; however, they will get to view many of the animals in our care. Guests are also more than welcome to explore the shelter during its hours of operations and visit any cat in an unlocked pod door, as these cats have been temperament-assessed and approved for guests visits. These visits are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. Guests can ask the Adoptions staff for more information upon arrival.

Tours Cancellation Policy: Refund requests received 48 hours in advance of the scheduled program are eligible for a refund of $25 ($25 administration fee is non-refundable). Refund requests received within 48 hours of the scheduled program are not eligible for a refund. Note: Full refunds will be issued in the event the OHS has to cancel a scheduled tour.
