All Pets are Therapy Animals
This is perhaps a little-known fact, but today is National Therapy Animal Day. I think this year, this day is particularly relevant, because during this crisis, those of us with pets have recognized that every day is National Therapy Animal Day.
Now, my Gracie, the cat who must be obeyed, is a senior cat. She doesn’t get up to Facebook-worthy antics. She doesn’t do cute things in the background when I am in Zoom meetings. In fact, she mostly just sleeps and periodically wakes and yowls to be petted.
Is she therapeutic? Absolutely.
Gracie represents normality. She doesn’t know or care what is going on in the world. She just wants to be petted. And when I pet her, for a while, I am released from my cares of the world.
So, this year, let’s recognize all pets as therapy animals and at least during this crisis, every day as National Therapy Animal Day.
Please share how your bundle of fur is helping you and the rest of your family get through this crisis. I will share some of your stories in an upcoming blog. In the meantime, please stay safe.
