The Best Deal You’ll Ever Find: And You Don’t Want to Miss It
It’s no exaggeration to say each day at the OHS is unique. We never know exactly what kinds of animals will need us, how many will come through our doors, or what care they will need to get their much-deserved second chance.
I’d also guess that the animals are just as surprised as we are. Take Maurice for example. He’s a sweet Chihuahua who came to us with two broken legs. He’s got a lot of spunk and after receiving care from our veterinary team, he is well on the road to recovery. Or look at Nancy, a 10-week-old kitten who arrived with 16 other cats in need. These cats, and the hundreds of animals currently in our care, need love, food and attention every day.
These two stories are just a small sample of the thousands of animals who need the OHS each year. Whether an animal needs a lot of support or is just a spay/neuter surgery away from finding their forever home, each is unique and has their own story to tell.
There is one constant thing about our work though, and it’s something that I am eternally grateful for. The work of the OHS is only possible because of a community that cares. We rely on support from the public to provide life-saving care for Ottawa’s homeless animals and Ottawa has shown us time and time again that the community is here for the animals.
