Penny's Profile

Hi, I’m Penny!

From my foster volunteer: “You’ll never meet a happier, friendlier, or more devoted dog than Penny! She loves people of all ages, gets along wonderfully with other dogs (especially puppies), and is great with cats after slow introductions. Penny is thriving and ready to make joyful new memories with her forever family.”

The staff at the OHS call me a Socialite. Did you know that a Socialite’s absolute favourite thing is hanging out with their people? They love being at the centre of attention and are excited to meet almost anyone. Socialites enjoy activities like joining in on family outings and going for leisurely walks, playing games like tug and fetch, and participating in training games! And while they might enjoy the occasional run or hike, they are usually content to stick around the neighbourhood. Most Socialites enjoy finishing off a day by settling down with a chew toy or puzzle feeder while you relax for the evening. So, if you like the company of a dog that will adore you and want to be involved in all of your activities, you’ll have lots of fun with a Socialite!

I have Horner’s syndrome which may continue to fully resolve in my new home or it is possible the mild changes (raised third eyelid) are permanent. This does not appear to cause me any issues.

I have eyelashes that grow in way that they contact my eye, at this time they do not appear to be bothering me. They should be monitored by a veterinarian.

I have some teeth that are worn. This is likely due to me chewing objects that are too hard. I will require regular veterinary check-ups to monitor my teeth. In the future I may need dental care for this condition under general anesthesia, possibly including dental extractions or other procedures.

I had several masses removed at the OHS that appeared consistent with a cyst.

I have a tooth with an enamel defect that should be monitored regularly by a veterinarian for any changes.

If you are interested in setting up an appointment to adopt me, please complete an adoption application at https://ottawahumane.ca/adopt/adoption-application/. Please be advised that although we do offer on-the-spot-adoptions, this is dependent on appointment schedules and cannot be guaranteed.
