Thank You

As I imagine you've heard, after 22 years, I’ve made the difficult decision to retire from the Ottawa Humane Society in late November. It has nothing to do with the OHS, and it actually has very little to do with working. I just can’t take Ottawa winters anymore.

I’m taking a lot of memories with me, but the strongest memories will always be about the people I’ve met and worked with over the years. The OHS has always been incredibly fortunate to have the time, talent, and passion of an outstanding group of volunteers. So much of what the OHS has achieved over the decades —lives saved, second chances, a caring community — were possible only because of you.

I will always be grateful when I think of you and I will always remember what you have done.

Thank You for Wiggling With Us!

Last Sunday, the Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run returned for the first time in more than two years! Thank you so much to everyone who helped out on the day of the event, participated, or made a donation to the animals. We can’t wait to do it again next year.

Youth Volunteers Lead the Way
A huge thank you to our amazing youth volunteers who made this year’s summer camps a huge success. We have to give a special shout out to Vrinda and David for going above and beyond and demonstrating excellent leadership and initiative.

Doing More for Dogs in Need
Our canine behaviour intervention volunteers are an important part of helping dogs who have challenging behaviours. These volunteers work one-on-one with dogs to provide training that helps them adjust to life in the shelter and find their forever family even faster.

New Volunteer Software
We have a new software called Better Impact that will make document submission, scheduling and communication easier for our volunteers. Stay tuned for further details as we get this exciting software up and running.
Bea, a little chihuahua
Become a PAW monthly donor!
Animals like Bea are counting on you to provide them with a new start at life and get them into loving forever homes.

This two-year-old Chihuahua had an injured leg that had to be removed surgically. Thanks to PAW monthly donors, Bea had somewhere safe to heal and recover.
