Dog walk at the Wiggle Waggle 2024
Thank You for Wiggling With Us!
This year’s Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run was a huge success with more than 1,400 participants and raising more than $200,000 for Ottawa’s animals.

The support of 128 volunteers helped make the event possible and this was one of our best years for volunteer interest! An outpouring of support filled all of our roles months before the event.

Thank you so much to all of our incredible volunteers whether you made it out to the event or were helping to provide essential day-to-day care for the animals at the shelter.

Your amazing support is building a community of care and a better future for the animals.

Pet Food Where It’s Needed Most
This summer, we launched pop-up pet food banks — a new program to bring pet food, free nail trims, pet health information, and essential supplies like leashes and collars where they are needed most. In a few short hours, close to 80 families received more than 450 lbs of pet food.

Volunteers like Kerry made the event possible, helping to manage the community’s needs and ensuring the OHS was there for everyone and every paw in need.

The pop-up pet food banks are a step forward in our efforts to keep pets with the people who love them. Stay tuned to find out more ways you can get involved in this work.

Board of directors with Sharon, OHS President and CEO
Did You Know? Volunteers Run the OHS!
A volunteer board of directors leads the OHS. Overseeing all parts of the organization, the board provides the strategic direction, resources, and high-level oversight for the organization to be successful in achieving its mission and goals. Department leads make regular reports to the board and in a recent report, we shared that the number of OHS volunteers is up by 7% since last year and all of our roles are currently filled!

Volunteers are involved in everything at the OHS. And thanks to you, great things can happen for Ottawa’s animals.

Speaking of Reports…
Our annual report is available online! It’s full of stats and stories you made possible last year. Volunteers gave more than 45,000 hours for the animals and fostered more than 900 pets.

We can’t thank you enough for making this progress possible, and we’re looking forward to reporting on another outstanding year in 2025!

Much of our work will be related to our 2024-29 strategic plan. You can reach out to Sharon at sharonm@ottawahumane.ca for any questions about the plan and our progress.

Celebrating Your Commitment to the Animals
Last Sunday, we celebrated your contributions to Ottawa’s animals at our Trivia Night!

It was a fun evening of food, trivia and prizes all in celebration of your achievements and dedication to the animals.

If you were able to join us, thank you so much for being there. If not, thank you for everything you do, we look forward to seeing you next time.

THANK YOU
