Tonight is so Important
In 2013, we lost a friend and colleague, Julie Laporte, to cancer. She was a beloved member of our team for nearly ten years. Her compassion, kindness and dedication to helping Ottawa’s animals shone in everything she did.
Here at the Ottawa Humane Society, we haven’t forgotten Julie and her devotion to the animals. Her actions continue to inspire me, the clinic team and everyone at the OHS — a constant reminder that Ottawa is a community that cares.
Tonight, in honour of Julie, a staff team of 25 strong will be volunteering their time for an event called Julie’s Light.
We will be working to sterilize as many animals as possible. The evening will help move many animals closer to finding their new forever homes.
Preventing pet homelessness and building a more humane future for the animals needs the support of a loving community. Julie’s dedication to the animals lives on today, ensuring even more animals can have a second chance at life with their forever family.
Our time tonight is all volunteered, but we look to the community to help support the supplies needed for these surgeries. Please consider a small gift to Julie’s Light to help the animals receive essential surgeries and to help prevent pet homelessness.
Your support will help more animals find forever homes faster, and you will help carry on Julie’s legacy of compassion and care.
