Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:
The staff at the OHS call me a Poet! When things are a little too new and different, these kitties have a hard time showing their true personalities. Because Poets find change so hard, they usually like lots of safe places to hide and high perches to rest on. While each Poet is a little different, things that usually bring them out of their shell include playing with their favourite toys, eating some of their favourite treats, and seeking attention from their favourite people. While you may not see a lot of them at first, they’ll be thinking of you… and after they settle in, you’ll think they’ve always belonged!
I am looking for a quiet, adult only, single pet home.
I have special needs!
I often feel frightened by new people and situations. To help me adjust, I will need a safe space in the home to call my own. With time and patience, I will come out of my shell and show my wonderful personality.
I am missing some teeth. I will require regular veterinary check-ups to monitor these areas of my mouth for any changes and it is possible my veterinarian may recommend dental care for this condition under anesthesia in the future.
I also have some dental tartar on my teeth, and some associated gum inflammation. I will likely require a thorough oral health assessment and dental cleaning under general anesthesia within the next year.
I had a thin, short, or patchy coat while I was at the shelter. This could be from a variety of reasons, from a food allergy to skin condition or illness-but we don’t know for sure. I am currently doing well and my coat is growing in. It may continue to improve or I may need further diagnostics, treatment, or other care from a veterinarian.
